NYTOA Tactical Carbine Instructor  integrates an innovative building block method of teaching students from the simple to the complex.  Designed for weapon-based dynamic environments, each learning evolution or skill set is dissected and broken down into easy-to-follow steps encouraging students to be free thinkers, to get out of their mental and physical comfort zones and to LIVE outside the box.

As comprehensive stress drills related to the previous evolutions cement each block of instruction to the level of unconscious competence, the carbine and secondary weapons system become an extension of one’s hand while the student’s foundation builds in the following:

    • Brief history of carbine
    • Weapons safety
    • Nomenclature
    • Points of contact
    • Supinate, neutral vertical, or pronate
    • Basic loading
    • Zero
    • Carry positions
    • Shooting responses
    • Intro to external & terminal ballistics
    • Wound cavitations
    • Threat incapacitation
    • Bi-lateral transfer
    • Comprehensive after action drill
    • Distance & cover
    • Window of combat
    • Deliberate reloads
    • Emergency reloads
    • Instructional techniques
    • Re-functioning
    • Slings & equipment organization
    • Transitioning
    • Reactive movement
    • Combat turns
    • Prioritizing & proxemics
    • Multiple threats
    • Threat discrimination
    • Field maintenance (upper and lower receiver)
    • Traveling movement & Tempos

The NYTOA’s mission is to build superior weapons skills in our students that are applicable in real life-threatening confrontation using the carbine when justified and necessary.  This course will arm the operator with many of the integrated qualities that have proven to save lives.

At the conclusion of this course, the student will be certified as a Carbine Instructor. Due to the intensity and comprehensive nature of this course, the student who completes this course will have the ability to instruct from the patrol rifle level to Special Weapons and Tactics Teams.

Please Note: This course is a comprehensive  course and is a physically demanding, fast-paced live fire course with MINIMAL classroom time.
